The Butterfly Renaissance

Our world is rapidly changing and adaptation is the endgame. We need a solution for the climate crisis, which is a humanitarian crisis created by our individual reluctance to recognize that the drops of our actions become the ocean that is our world.

For good or bad, we constantly recycle ideas, beliefs, and philosophies which simply no longer serve us at the cost of a future for any of us. A collapse of society is a revolution of epic proportions, and while we stand on the edge we can instead choose to build a bridge to a brighter world for us all.

The Butterfly Renaissance is a personal ‘awakening’ to the connectedness of the world and all things in it. It is a resolution that, “I will be the change I want to see in the world, and through my example I hope to inspire others." It is an imperfect blueprint on how to build a bridge that swiftly (2030) transitions us from a carbon-based economy to a hydrogen-based one, a transition from a system that fights nature to one that invites her in as a profitable business partner.

This is the framework for a (peace/resource-based) regenerative economy where generational wealth and economic health are the profits from policies and practices built on permaculture principles.

10-Year Transition Plan

In 2018, the ARK Board of Directors began working on a systematic, holistic, and sequential strategy to use our position in Alaska to build a model demonstrating how the US could rise to become leaders of the fossil fuel-free world by 2030

In 2020, we began taking steps from where we are now to the bright future that awaits. Two-year milestones in the timeline provide momentum to action the areas of focus, using imperfect models to root the growth of an enduring legacy. Beyond that, the plan is simply to do what you can, where you are at, with what you have. You are the butterfly and your wing flaps the wind of change of the Renaissance.

2023 Action Plan

This is our chrysalis stage of development where we review our past and prepare to emerge as the next version of our best selves, ready to rise to the challenge of “robin-hooding” the essential systems of life to serve once again the liberty of the planet and her people.

During this period we have a small list of goals, objectively developed through a series of keystone events, and delivered as food-, energy-, and waste-focused cardinal campaigns to build capacity:

Goals

Cardinal Campaigns

Job training for individuals affected by the criminal justice system

Moving beyond fossil fuels

Reducing waste through feeding ourselves
